Register for a chance to be selected to participate
It looks like fans will have another opportunity to try out Mortal Kombat 1 before its September release date. A new stress test for the game has been announced today that will give players a chance to help stress test the game’s online experience before launch.
The official Mortal Kombat Twitter account shared the first details on this upcoming test. Most important of all, though, sign ups are open right now (though pre-registration does not guarantee participation).
This Mortal Kombat 1 stress test is not a beta and is being ran separately from the online beta test that players will be given access to in August for pre-ordering the game on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.
The stress test’s FAQ detailed what exactly this opportunity will be. “No, the test is not a Beta, it is a true stress test,” reads the FAQ. “The purpose is to deliberately stress our online infrastructure and identify potential issues ahead of the game’s launch. The test is also unrelated to the Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Beta that has been announced for August 2023.”
At this moment in time, there are no dates for when this stress test will be taking place. It is also unclear if it will be ahead of the August beta or if it will follow it.
What we do know is that you’ll need a WB account to register for the Mortal Kombat 1 stress test. All you have to do is follow the link provided by the Mortal Kombat Twitter page, sign in to WB Games (or create an account if you don’t already have one), then select your console of choice.
The Mortal Kombat 1 stress test will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Also, it is worth mentioning that simply signing up does not guarantee you access to it.
Those who sign up will be placed on the Mortal Kombat 1 Online Stress Test email list. When it’s time for codes to be sent out, the players who were selected to play will be receiving an email with their redemption code and instructions on what to do next.
What’s interesting is that this online stress test will “prioritize online 1v1 matches.” With the reveal of Kameo Fighters — non-playable characters who can be selected alongside your playable fighter and be used as assists — this has potential implications that we won’t see Kameos make an appearance during the stress test. It could also be hinting at a potential team combat mode for Mortal Kombat 1, but only time will tell.
Fortunately, though, those who are selected to participate will not need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live membership to play. It has been confirmed that there will be no cross-platform play between Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, however.
Time to test the might of our servers! Help us find issues now for a flawless release in September. Sign up below to be considered. Dates to be confirmed at a later time. #MK1https://t.co/91zYBxq5Jk pic.twitter.com/JTcHmXeeiO
