HYDERABAD: Amid reports of a discord between BJP Dubbak MLA M Raghunandan Rao and state party chief Bandi Sanjay and some senior leaders nursing bigger ambitions, the saffron party top brass has kept the leaders guessing on the choice of seats they would like to contest in the next assembly elections in Telangana.
A senior party national leader, who was in the state recently, reportedly told the party’s elected representatives to be prepared for any eventuality, including swapping of seats at the assembly level and also gear up to enter the fray from MP seats. Some of the MLAs were reportedly told to be prepared to run for 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Top leaders, including Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy and Sanjay, are looking at entering the fray from multiple seats. It was in this context Sanjay’s statement made a few days ago assumes significance. He said nothing has been finalised yet on the assembly tickets. He said that top bosses will decide on the candidates and that he himself is not sure about his seat.
Given that Kishan Reddy will be running from either Secunderabad parliamentary constituency or Amberpet assembly segment, Sanjay will again be looking at retaining his Karimnagar LS seat and also be looking at Vemulawada assembly seat.
Nizamabad MP D Arvind is seriously considering entering assembly portals from Armoor seat. It is from this constituency a majority of turmeric farmers had filed nominations for the Nizamabad MP election last time. Soyam Bapu Rao, party MP, is likely to keep his seat from Adilabad.
T Raja Singh, who represents Goshamahal, is said to be interested in running for the MP seat either from Zaheerabad or Secunderabad depending on what the party leadership will decide. In fact, Singh wanted to enter the fray from Secunderabad LS but he was denied the chance as the seat was given to Kishan Reddy.
If Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender is sent to Parliament, party sources said he may be considered from Karimnagar, which is Sanjay’s seat.
