Bethesda’s long-awaited space-faring RPG Starfield will finally be released on September 6, 2023, for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
To provide more information about the game, Bethesda will hold a Starfield Direct presentation on June 11, 2023.
Like other Xbox first party titles, Game Pass subscribers will have access to Starfield on launch day.
Todd Howard, in today’s video announcement, promised fans that the game would be worth the wait, citing the massive amount of work that went into it.
Starfield will reportedly have over 1,000 planets and 150,000 lines of dialogue.
Whether the game’s massive worlds will be compelling places to explore or feel empty and abandoned at launch remains to be seen.
Howard promised a deep dive into the game and said, “There is so much that we still have to show you” during the Starfield Direct presentation in June. Meanwhile, Bethesda wants Starfield to have survival elements but be more approachable than a hardcore sim with strict resource management, focusing more on “themes” and “tone,” rather than challenging players with survival mechanics.
Starfield will represent Bethesda’s first new IP in 25 years, and the developers are excited to explore the new universe they have created with their fans come September.
