Valve shows what games had the highest playtime on Steam Deck for the month of February, giving insight into what Steam users enjoy on the go.
Valve recently showed what games Steam Deck owners enjoyed the most during the month of February 2023. Past lists for most-played games on Steam Deck have included a good number of new titles but also a healthy amount of older games that are playable on the handheld computer.
Valve’s Steam Deck was released just over a year ago and quickly gained popularity with PC players. Once it began gaining traction with gamers, many PC games were updated to include support for Steam Deck, and newer titles followed suit, such as the 2023 remake of Dead Space which was verified for Steam Deck just a few weeks after release. Other 2023 Steam releases followed a similar pattern, such as Hi-Fi Rush and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.
Valve has used its Twitter account to keep players informed on what the most popular games on Steam Deck are for each month according to total playtime, and it has recently released the newest version of the list for February 2023. February’s list is topped by Hogwarts Legacy which was released early that month, but similar to the list of the most played Steam Deck games for December 2022, this one is loaded with heavy hitting 2022 releases like Elden Ring, Vampire Survivors, and the PC rerelease of Persona 5 Royal.

Similarly, a good number of these games are older titles that are listed on Steam as either verified or playable on Steam Deck, including Stardew Valley, Grand Theft Auto V, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. One interesting placement on the list is Cyberpunk 2077 which was only very recently verified for Steam Deck. Despite this comparatively late verification, Cyberpunk 2077 has continuously been one of the most-played games on Steam Deck in previous months.
The Steam Deck has gained a strong user base thanks in part to being an affordable yet powerful portable PC gaming option. This is reflected in this list as games that are known for having highly detailed visuals like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Elden Ring are consistently listed as some of the most popular games on the handheld. Some of this popularity could be from Steam Deck plugins that give major performance boosts, but the continued efforts by developers to make their games playable on the platform shows that there will still be more for gamers to enjoy on Steam Deck.
