The Idolmaster Million Live! TV anime adaptation has received a teaser trailer as well as information regarding a theatrical release in Japan.
The anime will be pre-screened in theaters in three parts, with the first part running from August 18 to September 7. The second part will be screened from September 8 to September 28 while the last part will be screened from September 29 to October 19.
The TV broadcast for The Idolmaster Million Live! is set to begin sometime in October.
The Idolmaster Million Live!‘s name comes from the idol producer simulation game that launched in Japan in 2013 for mobile and in 2016 on PC browsers. That game came to an end in 2018, although 2017’s The Idolmaster Million Live! Theater Days mobile game is still in service. The games’ cast includes the idols of the original The Idolmaster as well as many new faces. The anime will follow the growth of the 765 Pro Live Theater from its beginning, with a focus on Mirai Kasuga.
Shinya Nishikida (Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE, The Idolmaster Million Live! “Seven Count” supervisor) is directing The Idolmaster Million Live! anime with Youichi Katou (Yokai Watch) as series composer and scriptwriter. Shirogumi is the animation production company.
Some of the newly revealed staff include the Daisuke Shiotani (The Idolmaster Million Live! “Seven Count,” Night Head 2041 episode director) as CG director, Tetsuya Ishii (Night Head 2041 storyboarder and animation director) and Kahori Tsuta (Night Head 2041 animation director) as animation character designers, Natsumi Sakamoto (The Idolmaster Million Live! “Seven Count”) as art director, Hikaru Takigawa (My Hero Academia Season 6 finishing staff) and Miyuki Satou (My Hero Academia Season 6 finishing staff) as color designers, Kentaro Oda (The Idolmaster Million Live! “Seven Count”) as photography director, and Lantis as music composer.
Meanwhile, the cast includes Haruka Yamazaki as Mirai Kasuga, Azusa Tadokoro as Shizuka Mogami, Machico as Tsubasa Ibuki, Yuu Kahara as Emily Stewart, Eri Inagawa as Tamaki Ogami, Emi Hirayama as Reika Kitakami, Sora Amamiya as Shiho Kitazawa, Nao Tamura as Hinata Kinoshita, and many more.
Bandai Namco Entertainment’s The Idolmaster (stylized as THE iDOLM@STER) multimedia franchise begin in 2005 with an arcade game that was later ported to the Xbox 360 in 2007. It has since spawned multiple games and anime, with the latter including series like 2007’s Idolmaster: Xenoglossia, 2011’s The Idolmaster, 2015’s The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, and 2017’s The Idolmaster SideM. The franchise has also inspired radio shows, drama CDs, soundtrack releases, and print media. 2021 saw the release of the “Voyager” anime concept movie/music video.
Aside from The Idolmaster Million Live!, 2023 will also see the release of an anime adaptation of The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls U149 manga.
