Members of the Street Fighter community are learning they can get some free bonuses in the upcoming release of Street Fighter 6 if they’ve owned the series’ previous entry, Street Fighter 5.
As pointed out on the Street Fighter subreddit, players can nab themselves essentially a free copy of perhaps the most well-known entry of the series – 1994’s Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo – fully playable in game, so long as they link their Capcom account to their PS5 or Steam account. The promotion – called the Street Fighter Runback Campaign – also offers up 46 “Longtime [Character] Player” player titles to use in the new game.
There’s a couple of caveats – of course. The version of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo is only playable inside of Street Fighter 6 as one of its game cabinets, but can be accessed easily through the in-game menu in the Gallery section. The second is that you must have played Street Fighter 5 online at some point in order to be eligible. Finally, Xbox owners can’t take advantage of this offer sadly, as Street Fighter 5 did not release on Xbox.
Many players are hyped for the reminder as they didn’t even realise this was a thing. LonesomePuppy writes. “I didn’t know about this. I mean it wasn’t exactly well publicised” and similarly anbus added “Thanks a lot my man, surely the SF2Turbo was a treat I wasn’t expecting!” The campaign had actually first been revealed during the game’s Open Beta, but it seems a few users hadn’t quite taken full notice. “I saw the Runback Campaign when making my Capcom ID for the open beta,” says Krudtastic “But I didn’t really pay attention as to what it was. I’ll definitely be doing this.”
In case you weren’t aware – here’s how to claim these goodies yourself.
