It’s been over seven long years since the last time the Street Fighter community saw a brand new numbered entry release, but as the clock rolls past midnight in the easternmost parts of North America, the massively anticipated Street Fighter 6 is finally available to the public.
There’s a lot to this game, but we have you covered on all fronts. Continue on to see just about everything you’ll want to know to get started off on the right foot, including Street Fighter 6’s pricing, general info, our review, the launch trailer and more.
Street Fighter 6 is available across many platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. The base version of the game will cost you $60 while the Deluxe Edition hikes up to $85 and the Ultimate Edition runs for $105.
Purchasing the Deluxe Edition will get you the base game plus the Year 1 Character Pass (containing four DLC characters Ed, Rashid, AKI, and Akuma), colors 3-10 for each of those Year 1 characters’ outfits, and bonus of 4,200 Drive Tickets for in-game purchases. Getting the Ultimate Edition will net you all of the above plus two more outfits (with colors 3-10) for the four DLC characters, two additional stages to play on, and 7,700 Drive Tickets.
A great place to start is by viewing the game’s launch trailer in which rapper Lil Wayne offers a wonderful introduction to get you acquainted with the feel and flow of the SF6 experience:
If you do wind up getting only the base game and decide you want to add the DLC characters to your roster, you can do so by purchasing the Year 1 Character Pass (Deluxe Edition benefits) for $29.99 or the Ultimate Pass (Ultimate Edition benefits) for $49.99. (We’ve yet to see any pricing information on individual DLC characters in Street Fighter 6.)
Our own Justin “Adaptive Trigger” Gordon spent many hours with the game in order to write up our SF6 review. There you’ll find detailed analysis on all of the various modes from World Tour to Fighting Ground, as well as what aspects of the game were strongest as well as any that were notably weak. Without giving away too much in the way of spoilers, the final verdict was along the lines of “A near perfect fighting game that makes the future of the genre look bright.”
Be sure to visit our Street Fighter 6 tiers page where EventHubs users can vote on character match ups to determine a community tier list ordering the strength of all roster members. We also have a Street Fighter 6 stats page where you can share which character(s) you play and see how popular each fighter is.
We’ve also got an entire SF6 Starter Hub with tons of resources to help you get going in game. There you’ll find access to character tutorials, guides for fundamentals, higher level match footage, Street Fighter 6 podcast discussions, and more.
