Fans of medieval murder simulators like Chivalry 2, rejoice! The immensely popular Mordhau is making the jump from PC to console, and while we don’t yet have a firm release date, it’s coming soon to PS5 and PS4.
Featuring hectic, large-scale battles with a primary focus on melee combat, Mordhau was released back in 2019, and remains popular on Steam today. Perhaps the biggest differential between Mordhau and the Chivalry franchise is that the former strives for a more grounded and realistic tone… although whether it is successful in that regard is debatable.
Fun fact: the title Mordhau refers to a German longsword technique from the Middle Ages. It means “murder-stroke” or “murder-strike”, and involves inverting the blade (grasping it in gauntleted hands) and striking your opponent with the pommel or crossguard, using the weapon in the fashion of a hammer or mace.
