Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is a hot and trending topic in the community these days. Insiders have reported that the Call of Duty 2023 is, in fact, the Modern Warfare 3. And in the shadow of this news, a rumor about the Zombies mode coming back to Call of Duty in 2023 is now spreading. But how is this Zombies integration to Modern Warfare 3 going to work? Call of Duty added the Zombies mode in 2008 with the World at War. This game had many DLC maps and started a storyline based on the zombie universe. This story continued with the Black Ops series, and two years ago, we had the Black Ops Cold War canonizing the Zombies mode’s narrative into Warzone.
Before we saw the change of Verdansk in Warzone 1, zombies arrived on the map, which ended with the destruction of Verdansk. After that, we never got to see the modern-day story and figure out what happened after the nuke. This is while rumors about the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are pointing toward the continuation of this narrative.

The MW3 Zombies rumor first started with the post that Call of Duty 2023 is, in fact, titled Modern Warfare 3. This comes from Tom Henderson, a very reliable insider for leaking Call of Duty titles. But after we had MW2 in 2022, having another Modern Warfare game seems a bit strange. It has never been the case for the Call of Duty series like Modern Warfare or Black Ops to release new titles two years in a row.
But if that’s going to be the plan, then something has to differentiate the next Modern Warfare from the current one to be worth $70. And that seems to be the Zombies mode. This comes from the Insider Gaming post, which confirms the Zombies mode for Call of Duty 2023. But besides that, it also gives us a crucial detail that says this new Zombies mode won’t be a round-based one.

When it’s pointed out that Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is not round-based, one thing comes to a fan’s mind; the Outbreak. This mode was first and only seen in the Black Ops Cold War. It brought zombies to open-world gameplay, which was a very fresh experience. However, do we get to see Outbreak 2.0 in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies?

Insider Gaming has also shared some info on the developers of the Call of Duty 2023 zombies mode. According to their post, a new job listing for Treyarch studio mentions that they are looking for a new Senior Designer that can work on large-scale maps for Warzone and the Outbreak.
This info confirms the Outbreak’s return and shows that Treyarch is working on the Modern Warfare 3 zombies mode. This is a similar experience to what we saw in Call of Duty: Vanguard. However, Call of Duty 2023‘s main developers are the Sledgehammer Games, which seems to remain this way.
Now with all these Modern Warfare 3 Rumors in mind, Insider Gaming has also mentioned that the Call of Duty 2024 will bring back the round-based Zombies mode. Treyarch will fully develop coD 2024, and it’s probably going to be the next Black Ops game. But how do the developers connect Modern Warfare 3 Zombies mode to the Call of Duty 2024? Do we get to see another epic storyline like we did with Black Ops 1 to 4 series? We just have to wait to find out.
As for right now, it’s apparent that Call of Duty 2023 is Modern Warfare 3. And the leakers claim this new game has a new Zombies mode. Now it’s unclear whether zombies are coming to MW3 as a new chapter to the Outbreak mode, or they’re just a part of a Warzone 2 or maybe even a DMZ event.
