ESTERO, Fla. — A man is accused of breaking into and burglarizing apartments at The Residences at University Village.
According to reports, 22-year-old Geoffrey Alfred Gesse entered the off-campus, privately owned residential complex in the middle of the night on April 28th.
He’s accused of entering at least two apartments and stealing $1,700 worth of gaming electronics from one unit.
Jake Patterson said he had a run-in with Gesse.
He and his girlfriend were asleep when they woke up to a strange noise.
“I woke up to the door creaking open and he poked in,” said Patterson.
Patterson chased the suspect to the complex’s parking lot, where he was able to catch him on camera before deputies arrived.
Patterson said he thinks the burglar hopped the patio railing to get into his girlfriend’s place.
Deputies were able to track down Gesse’s car, an orange Mustang, on Fort Myers Beach. That’s where he was arrested. Gesse told deputies he was drinking before the incident and was just looking for a party.
