These are the 10 best games of the year according to Metacritic

The end of 2022 is almost here, so it’s time to look back and remember some of the greatest games we’ve been able to enjoy in these past 12 months. In MeriStation we’ve spoken a lot about what we believe is our game of the year, with the title eventually going to Elden Ring, but we’ve also enjoyed a ton of other titles throughout the year like God of War: Ragnarok, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Horizon: Forbidden West, and many more. All of them have been judged by Metacritic, the famous portal where you can already find a list of the highest scoring titles of the year, and of which we’ll talk about ahead.

The best of the best of 2022

Something to keep in mind is the fact that among the top ten we’ll find some repeated names, since Metacritic counts each different version of a game as its own entity. This is why the above-mentioned Elden Ring appears up to three times in the list with its three “biggest” versions: PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. In the same manner, we’ll find some titles that didn’t exactly release during the current year, but that did get new releases like Persona 5 Royal and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The real surprise, however, comes from the first place of the list, since it’s been taken by the Portal Companion Collection for Nintendo Switch. The bundle managed to take the position with only 9 reviews, what with it being a collection of both of Valve’s FPS puzzle games, rereleased for the Nintendo hybrid console.

Without further ado, here are the 10 best games of the year, accompanied by its average score:
