The Aurora Shores await in Way of the Hunter

We’ve previously traipsed the wildlands of Europe and the depths of the USA, but now we travel to Alaska in Way of the Hunter, all thanks to the arrival of the Aurora Shores DLC.

Way of the Hunter on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC has been allowing gamers the chance to go on the hunt for a good few months already, releasing in mid-2022 in hope of providing an option to the genre king, theHunter: Call of the Wild.

It did alright too, providing players with a game that could look superb, one that delivered on the tension of the hunt, with as much information pushing you along than you would ever need. It’s a game that is capable of pushing out a huge world, ripe for exploration, as you set your sights on targets, pulling the trigger.

But for us, there was perhaps a bit too much info. In fact, our 3.5/5 scored review spoke of exactly that, knocked down by some visual stutters and a ton of pop up.

Now though Way of the Hunter is expanding, and on the back of some previously delivered free DLC in the form of a UTV comes a huge smattering of content, the Aurora Shores. It’s this which lets you go about protecting the wildlife found in Alaska, as you explore one of the most untouched lands in the world.

You’ll get to go high, to the Nianuk Rise, through the Aivuk Rainforest and across the vast wilderness that it holds. There’s a ton of diversity found in the animals you’ll get to hunt here too; gray wolves, red fox, surf scoters, other ducks and the Alaskan moose all call this place home. And all will be available to hunt should you so wish.

The Way of the Hunter – Aurora Shores content pack will set you back £8.39 from the Xbox Store, but you will of course need to have the base game to hand in order to make the most of it. If you don’t yet have a copy of the game, head to your favoured digital store and fix that fast. The new DLC is available as part of the Deluxe Edition of the game.

Way of the Hunter and the Aurora Shores DLC is on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

DLC Description:

As a fresh graduate of the Wildlife Trooper School, your job is to protect the natural resources of Aurora Shores. Explore untouched nature with rich populations of wild animals, such as Kodiak bears, Roosevelt elk, Wood bison, and many more. Use a broad selection of firearms and hunting equipment to get the top trophies and enjoy the open-world habitats ranging from green grasslands to lush rainforests, to sky-scraping mountain tops. When most people think of Alaska, they think of short days and cold nights. Despite the rough winter climate, Aurora Shores is also a place of warmth. Regardless of the season, the idyllic beauty of Aurora Shore’s natural habitats will inspire and astound you. From the highest peaks of the Nianuk Rise to the mighty Aivuk Rainforest, Alaska has something to offer everyone. Home to a variety of native ethnicities and nearly two dozen local languages, Aurora Shores’ diversity is a national treasure. This all is Aurora shores, a hunting grounds unlike any other in the world. The grasslands of Aurora Shores are full of life and wonder. Gray wolves and red foxes, surf scoters and wild ducks, even Alaska’s own moose… Here any hunter can find prey worth their shot.
