Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been the most successful entry in the series, and it apparently continues to sell copies according to Nintendo. Back in February, it was reported that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s sales had exceeded 27.40 million units worldwide.
Since then, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has pushed an additional 0.77 million units worldwide which makes a total of 28.17 million sales. With this in mind, the total sales for the entire series has now reached 69.46 million.
Notably, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s success is now more than double than that of the second most successful game in the series. Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the series entry for the Nintendo Wii. Super Smash Bros. Brawl has reportedly sold 13.32 million units to date.
However, it’s worth noting that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s sales still hasn’t quite doubled Super Smash Bros. 4’s reported sales when combining the Nintendo 3DS (9.63 million) and the Wii U (5.38 million) entries to make 15.01 million units.
Despite Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s success, this has only granted it the status of being the third best-selling title for the Nintendo Switch after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (45.33 million units) and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (38.64 million units).
Comparably, Super Smash Bros. Melee is said to be the most successful game on the Nintendo GameCube, having achieved 7.41 million sales worldwide.
Of course, we shouldn’t forget about the franchise’s humble beginnings as the first game in the series, Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64, has so far pushed out 5.55 million units.
