Street Fighter 6 is aiming to be the most accessible entry in the series to date, and part of that will be the new ‘Dynamic Control Scheme’, enabling players to get by with button mashing. The option will be available alongside the game’s Modern Controls and Classic Controls settings.
Modern Controls will simplify the buttons required to pull off moves, while the Dynamic Control Scheme uses AI to dynamically perform moves based upon your character’s position. Anyone concerned that this will impact the online competitive experience needn’t worry, however, as the option will only be available for local play.
“In a normal fighting game, when they [mash buttons], they just do a lot of whiffs,” Street Fighter 6 Director Takayuki Nakayama explained to Game Informer. “We wanted something important and something that makes a difference happen by randomly pressing buttons.”
The idea behind the Dynamic Control Scheme is to enable anyone to pick up and start playing Street Fighter 6, without having to learn complicated directional inputs, regardless of skill level. Effectively, it’ll remove any barrier to entry. A ‘distance to opponent’ sound effect, attack indicators, and more are also part of the game’s accessibility options.
Street Fighter 6 will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2023, with 18 characters available at launch, as well as online cross-play and rollback netcode.
