Rumors are circling about a now-canceled PS5 sci-fi shooter that was allegedly in the works at Final Strike Games.
It is alleged that Sony has canceled a PS5 sci-fi shooter that was in the works at Final Strike Games amongst a sea of layoffs. With Sony’s PS5 exclusives lineup set to be full of FPS games from Deviation and Firewalk in the future, it might simply be because the game would have had to be one of the best FPS games on PlayStation to succeed.
Final Strike Games experiences layoffs and may have had its PS5 game canceled
This information comes from Twitter user Timur222 who tweeted: “Sony has canceled an unannounced sci-fi shooter at Final Strike Games. The game was in development for 3 years. (Was 2 years away from shipping). Platforms were PS5 and PC.”
Timur claims that Final Strike Games suffered a 40% reduction in headcount and this would explain why the alleged PS5 title has since been canceled by Sony. Timur provided further proof of this by showing a post from a software engineer who discussed their layoff from Final Strike on LinkedIn.
Heading to the Final Strike Games website reveals that the studio is working on an “unannounced AAA PvP shooter for PC/Console.” No other information is currently available and it is unclear if this title mentioned on the website is related to the alleged canceled PS5 shooter or is something else entirely. We will keep an eye on the website to see if any changes happened over the coming week.
What do you make of this? Disappointed if it turns out to be true? If this PS5 shooter has been canceled, let’s hope the alleged these PlayStation Showcase rumors come to fruition and we get a bunch of juicy new titles to get excited about.
