Blizzard is running it back. After skipping last year, the company has officially announced that BlizzCon, its annual convention, will return to the big stage later this year. BlizzCon 2023 will happen between November 3 and 4.
Last year, Blizzard cancelled its annual event. Though the details of the event’s cancellation were hazy, the coincidence of the company’s allegations of sexual abuse was suspect. Prior to last year, the company subsisted on online versions of the annual event because of the ongoing pandemic. It’s been a while since Blizzard hosted an in-person BlizzCon.
Naturally, there is a lot riding on this return to the big stage. However, it’s a mystery as to what the company will eventually present at the event. Its most hotly anticipated title, Diablo IV, is already dropping in a few weeks. Additionally, the company’s other thriving title, Overwatch 2, was recently hit with terrible news, cancelling the title’s plans for a dedicated PvE mode, despite promises at launch.
Without much on the docket, it’s likely that Blizzard will announce new content for its cash cow, World of Warcraft. Expect some Hearthstone content too, maybe?
Regardless, BlizzCon is back. If you want to take part, the event will happen from November 3 to 4 at the Anaheim Convention Center. An online version will likely happen concurrently.
