Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has the potential to be even better than the first, due in part to the PlayStation 5’s advanced hardware capabilities.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is undoubtedly one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2023, and for good reason. The first Marvel’s Spider-Man set an impressive new precedent for high-quality superhero games, as did its follow-up Miles Morales. Slated for release in Fall 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has the potential to be even better than the games in the series that preceded it, particularly when it comes to the protagonist’s web-slinging capabilities.
There’s a lot about the upcoming game that has players excited, from a potentially bigger map to Venom’s involvement in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s story. However, players who haven’t gotten their hands on a PlayStation 5 yet will be out of luck when it comes to playing the game upon release. The previous two games in the series have also released for both PS4 and PC, but this newest entry will be new-generation only once it becomes available for purchase. While this is bad news for those who don’t own a PS5, it also means promising new performance capabilities for the game.
The PS5 Could Make Spider-Man 2’s Web-Swinging More Fun
In previous releases in the Marvel’s Spider-Man series, the game’s performance was tied to being compatible with the lower-end of technology that it was made available on. Even though players had the option to buy the last two games on PS5, the existing PS4 option meant the games could never truly shine from a performance standpoint. Coming to PS5 only means Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 could make NYC feel new again with better graphics and performance, particularly when it comes to web-swinging.
Faster Web-Swinging Is Possible In Spider-Man 2 With The PS5’s SSD
The SSD that resides in the PlayStation 5 means that games can run at a much faster speed than those on the PS4. While web-swinging in Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales could get fairly fast, it never quite felt the way it comes off in the movies, a blazing speed that tends to inspire fear in anyone riding along with the friendly neighborhood hero. However, with the game coming exclusively to the more capable, new-generation console, the web-swinging of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 could finally reach its full potential.
Although there are many changes that could improve Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s open world, speedier web-swinging would be one of the most noticeable improvements possible. Players constantly travel across New York City via web travel – it’s one of the most central mechanics of the entire game. Adding new levels of speed to the process would be a huge improvement that would make the protagonist feel much more like a superhero, and would undoubtedly enhance the overall experience players have in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
