After generating two billion dollars for its first year and crossing three billion dollars in May last year, miHoYos Genshin Impact has crossed a new milestone in its second year and generated 3,7 billion in player spending worldwide. It is relevant to the App Store and Google Play Store according to Sensor Tower’s Intelligence data.
When it’s launched, the open-world action RPG has become the third-largest market mobile title in the world. His second place is mobile game player spending outside China with 2,5 ghb earned, and less than a candy Crush and Sagas 2,3 gbh. When considering mobile games that use gacha monetization, Genshin Impact has become the most revenue-generating title in the last two years.
Interestingly, with the global mobile games market as the first year of the year to see its revenue loss for the two Q1 and the second half of 2022 a year earlier, Genshin is still unaffected. The increase in player spending went on for Q1, 16 percent year-over-year and 481,5 million in Q2, 28 percent. The second quarter will probably see a sharp decline.
In terms of market share, the App Store accounts for 68 percent of the global revenue, followed by 32 percent of the Google Play in China. Outside of the region, the former accounts for 52 % and the latter 48 %. China remains the games’ top market, with 1,2 milliard dollars in total spent on iOS alone. Japan ranks second, followed by the United States third.
Genshin Impact is currently available for the PlayStation4 and PC, and iOS and Android. Recently it received the update version 3.1 which added new quests, playable characters and much more. Please come by the boat for more details.
