To unlock skills, players must level up and access their Abilities chart, where they can pick a skill from the Skill Tree Menu.

Certain classes like the Rogue and Barbarian will use different weapons for different skills, but players can equip all possible weapon types.

How to switch weapons in Diablo 4
Once players have the necessary skill, they can equip it on their hotkey by accessing the Abilities Tab in the Character Menu and clicking on the Skill Assignment Button (or use L3 on console controllers).
When doing this, rows for each type of skill will pop up with highlighted skills that you’ve unlocked. Click on the skill you want to assign, and move it to the hotbar on the desired button/key. It’s also worth noting that more slots will become available as your level increases.
Each class has specific skills that allow them to use certain weapons, and players can manually select a weapon for that skill by hovering over the skill on their hotbar and pressing the middle mouse button on PC or pressing X/Square on consoles.
