Capcom has reported its financials for the fiscal year, and it’s immediately clear that the Japanese publisher is still riding high on the success that it found during the PS4 generation with blockbusters like Monster Hunter World. The company has yet again posted record profits — a winning streak going back five years now. It also reports nine straight years of profit growth, which is seriously impressive in an industry where fortunes can turn very quickly.
Naturally, Capcom doesn’t want the good times to end, and so it’s no surprise that it has big plans for the upcoming fiscal year, ending 31st March, 2023. Indeed, it’s looking to release “multiple major new titles” over the next 12 months or so — some of which may not be officially announced yet.
So what’s Capcom got in store? Well, we know that it has a number of big budget titles currently in development. There’s the recently revealed Exoprimal — due to release in 2023 — Pragmata, which, to be fair, feels like it’s still a while off, and Street Fighter 6. The latter will no doubt blow up at Evo 2022 this summer.
And that brings us to the juicy rumoured stuff: both Resident Evil 4 Remake and Dragon’s Dogma 2 are heavily rumoured. Oh, and speaking of Resident Evil, let’s not forget that Capcom has promised PS5 versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7. All of those free upgrades are set to launch later this year.
It sounds like Capcom’s going to be busy over the next year, then. What would you like to see? Become the Arisen in the comments section below.
