Black Friday PS4 deals 2021
Black Friday 2021 has come and gone, but there are still plenty of PS4 deals available for you to look over and potentially stump up the cash for.
That’s right, Black Friday is officially done for another year, but the deals don’t stop here. There are lots of PS4 savings and offers to be had as we head into Cyber Monday, which officially arrives on November 29.
While we wait for the penultimate big sales day of the year to turn up, you can still find a lot of good Black Friday PS4 deals circulating online. That includes discounts on PS4 games, headsets, controllers and much more.
We’re also keeping an eye for any further PS4 console restocks in the US and UK. So if you’re still on the hunt for a PS4, PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro, you’ll want to keep checking back in with us to see when more become available. Both PS5 and PS4 stock is limited on both sides of the Atlantic, though, so you’ll have to be quick on the draw to land one.
Even though we suspect that you’re after a PS5, there’s never been a better time to find a brilliant PS4 deal ahead of Cyber Monday. Sure, Sony’s PlayStation 4 console is a little long in the tooth – the company’s last-gen device was released in November 2013, so it has some limitations now and it can’t compete with its stronger cousin, aka the PlayStation 5. But there’s a reason why the PS4 is the fourth best-selling console of all-time, with only Nintendo’s original Game Boy, the Nintendo DS, and Sony PlayStation 2 outpacing it for units shipped. The PS4 is a brilliant piece of kit and is well worth investing in, even in 2021.
We’ll be updating this Black Friday PS4 deals buying guide until Cyber Monday arrives. In the meantime, why not check out one of our other Cyber Monday hubs? There are lots of deals available on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS Plus memberships and gaming chairs ahead of Cyber Monday 2021, so start looking now if you’re after a great deal this weekend. We’ve also got a guide on the best PS4 games that you need to play, too, so read that for an idea on which must-play titles you’ve missed out on.

When will the best Black Friday PS4 deals start?
A number of discounts on PS4 games and accessories from various online retailers are already available.
However, a quick scan around the biggest online stores shows that PS4 device stock has sold out pretty much everywhere, except for Argos in the UK. Even then, there aren’t any savings to be had. We’re hoping that some outlets, such as Amazon, may release whatever stock they have soon. But whatever the case, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on when and where you can find any console bundles.
Traditionally, the biggest discounts are released on Black Friday weekend, and run through until Cyber Monday on November 29. We suspect that we’ll see more PS4 games, hardware and peripherals see further price drops so, again, keep it locked to TechRadar for more information when we have it.
In fact, you should bookmark this page and return daily to see what new deals have arrived since you last checked in. So go ahead and do that now to stay ahead of the competition.
What Black Friday PS4 deals do we expect to see on the day?
We’re expecting lots of big deals on PS4 accessories (including PS Plus membership, PS4 headsets, PS4 hard drives and PS4 controllers), PS4 games and maybe even PS4 bundles (if we’re lucky).
What’s more, many of these Black Friday PS4 deals will benefit both PS4 and PS5 owners. Plenty of PS4 accessories and games are compatible with the new PlayStation – so technically you could pick yourself up some great PS5 deals, too, if you need a new gamepad, headset or another device.
Whether we’ll see much in the way of PS4 and PS4 Pro bundle and consoles deals this year, though, remains to be seen.
Last year, we expected huge Black Friday PS4 deals on hardware, as retailers looked to shift their stock to make room for the PS5. Unfortunately, most PS4 console stock had dried up before the sales season, following increased popularity due to the pandemic. That may be the case this year as well, given that stock on the likes of Amazon is sold out. Hopefully, however, we may see some deals arrive online on November 26.
Should I pick up a PS4 or a PS5?
PS4 console offers are likely to be light this November, while PS5 console deals will be pretty much non-existent. The latter of those is down to the semiconductor chip shortage that’s impacted much of the tech industry during the pandemic. As a result, that’s had a knock-on effect to the availability of PS4 consoles, as buyers purchase these devices instead of a PS5.
But, if there are any PS4 console deals to be had, you’ll be best making a move for one as they land online.
For starters, the PS5 doesn’t come cheap, with the console coming in at $499 / £449 and the Digital Edition sitting at $399 / £359 – and that’s only if you can get your hands on any stock.
It might be worth picking up a Black Friday PS4 deal, then, if you’re looking to get into Sony’s library without the hefty cost of the latest console. If you find a super cheap PS4 Slim deal in particular, it’s likely to be worth your time while waiting for the PS5 to come down in price.
In the meantime, you might as well make the most of that PS4. There are plenty of great games in the PS4’s future, which will also be cross-generational – i.e. you can play them on both consoles. Not only that, but lots of publishers are offering a free next-gen upgrade on their games, meaning you could potentially pick up a discounted PS4 game and then upgrade to its PS5 version when you buy Sony’s current-gen console.
It’s also worth noting that the PS5 games line-up for the rest of 2021 is looking pretty light, with most upcoming big hitters not releasing until at least 2022. What’s more, some of the biggest forthcoming PlayStation first-party titles, such as Horizon Forbidden West will be releasing for PS4 as well as PS5. So it may be worth waiting to pick up a PS5 anyway if you really want the latest hardware available to you.
What are the best PS4 alternatives?
If the PS4 or PS4 Pro doesn’t take your fancy – or isn’t available – it’s worth considering some of the other best game consoles on the market.
While stock is currently limited for the PS5 and its Digital Edition, as well as Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, it’s worth considering whether you want the newest technology. If you do want one of these, you’ll want to hang onto your cash.
If you aren’t fussed on the newest hardware, then it could also be worth picking up an Xbox One instead, as we’re likely to see some discounts on the Xbox One S, Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital. Stock of the latter two, though, is limited due to the hardware being discontinued. With Microsoft having just released two new consoles, some retailers may offer discounts on the older hardware to shift some stock.
If none of these take your fancy, then it could be worth considering a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite. These might see some big discounts this Black Friday following the release of the new Switch OLED on October 8.
