Assassin’s Creed Valhalla brings players to one of the series’ largest maps to date. Since its release, players have been able to travel across more and more medieval Europe including expansions to Paris and Ireland. The game continues to be updated by Ubisoft, adding in new features and fixing player-reported issues. In the latest of these updates, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s issues with HD textures is addressed.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was released in 2020 and mainly takes place in medieval Norway and England. Since then, the game has seen two major DLCs including Wrath of the Druids and Siege of Paris as well as several smaller updates and fixes for problems players have encountered thus far.
In Title Update 1.4.2, the developers of the game are bringing just a few changes to the game, much less than in the last update to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that brought a new storyline. In the announcement of this update, Ubisoft divides the details of it into two parts: improvements and new store items. The only improvement mentioned in this update pertains to a problem that caused an issue with HD textures. According to the patch notes, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players noticed that HD textures struggled to load in and were missing during gameplay. Once this update goes live on February 1, this problem should be resolved. Accompanying this fix, Ubisoft mentions that three new item packs will be coming out soon. These will be the Lunar New Year Pack (out on February 15), the Moonlight Weapons Pack (out on March 3), and the Dragon Knight Pack (out on March 22).
It isn’t mentioned in this post by Ubisoft what exactly was causing the issue or what they have done to resolve the issue, but the developer mentions the size of this patch for each version of the game:
- Xbox Series X|S: 6.6 GB
- Xbox One: 5.1 GB
- PlayStation5: 2.5 GB
- PlayStation4: 3.03 GB
- PC: 11.08 GB
As games get larger and more complex after their initial release, it makes sense that issues would begin to pop up. This is especially true for open world games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla because of the number of locations and characters players can interact with. Fortunately, updates such as this one can help resolve a number of these issues without getting in the way of playing the game.
Then again, expectations on developers are higher than ever in the industry and players who have purchased the game want as few issues as possible. Especially if the fixes like a recent one for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, require a significant amount of time and space to download. Either way, for those players who have experienced these issues, this should be welcome news.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
