The Altoona Area Public Library has expanded its one-on-one tech appointments to the Downtown Altoona Transportation Center, 1231 11th Ave., Altoona.

The library offers free educational story time programs for children ages 1-6. Call 814-946-0417, ext. 123, to register. Programs include Mother Goose, geared for ages 12-24 months, 9:30 a.m. today, May 12, and Story Hour, for ages 4 and older, 5:30 p.m. today, May 12.
Other activities scheduled for May include:
n Chess Club, 4:30 to
7:30 p.m., Thursdays. Meet at the front tables near the Adult Circulation desk. No registration necessary.
n After-School Program, 4:30 p.m. Fridays. The group will be playing Mario Party 10 on the Wii/Wii U system. No registration is required. The program is geared for children 5 and older.
n Homeschool Hub with local author Cathy Breisacher will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, in the youth room. Breisacher will share her books, talk about her writing process and answer questions. She will also lead a guided creative writing lesson. n Longwood Gardens DIY Craft, 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, in the library board room. Participants will be painting trees and experimenting using foil, sponges and Q-tips to create foliage designs. Patrons who register and attend will each receive tickets to Longwood Gardens. This is an adult only program and spaces are extremely limited so registration in advance is required. n Quick Crochet class will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 19, in the library board room. The class is designed for crochet enthusiasts of all interest levels, beginners included. The class will learn to make the Granny Square, which can be used to make a variety of projects, from purses and hats to shirts and stuffed animals. Crafting materials will be provided for each participant to take home. Registration in advance is required. This program has been created for ages 12 through adult. n Teen Book Club, for ages 13 to 18, will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 20. All teens who sign up will be sent a suggestion list of books to choose from. This month’s topic will be new 2022 books. Call 814-946-0417, ext. 125, to register.
n Remake Learning Days 2022, geared for children
6 years old and older, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21. The group will be discovering Bubble Science as participants mix, measure and explore a variety of bubble solutions to determine how to make the best, biggest, strongest and most colorful bubbles. This event will be held outside on the patio behind the youth room, weather permitting; but will be moved indoors if needed.
n Literary Luau for children ages 4 and older will be held Saturday, May 21.
