It’s no secret that the shift to online gaming has meant the classic trope of competitive gaming within the same room is dying out. Some games try and rekindle that magic: the likes of TowerFall Ascension and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge immediately spring to mind. However, there still aren’t as many as there should be. OctaFight, out today on Xbox, attempts to provide another much-needed alternative.
You and up to seven other friends must battle it out in this local multiplayer game. Using your bombs and shields, you must defeat your opponents, either lone wolf style or as a team.
OctaFight plays like an old school game and looks like one too. Classic pixel graphics but with a modern pixel-art twist to bring the environments to life. Don’t spend too looking gawping though, else a bomb may end your game prematurely.
You can also completely the rules of each game. Ensure that no two games of OctaFight are the same and keep this multiplayer action going long into the evening of your next games night.
OctaFight is available to download now from the Xbox Store, priced at £3.99. Our review is coming soon, once me and my seven other 30-something friends can arrange one evening where none of us have plans. That is the real challenge to OctaFight.
